Jim Miller (1926 to 2012) joined the RAAF as a young man during World War II and developed a taste for the swing music of the big band era. Over the years he played in dance bands and collected an extensive library of big band arrangements which imitated the music of Glen Miller, Count Basie , Duke Ellington and many others such as Tommy Dorsey
and Artie Shaw.
These days, the band still performs many of Jim’s arrangements as well as some more contemporary tunes. A number of vocalists have joined us in recent years and five different singers will perform at the Jazz Club. Last year, an Andrews’ sisters tribute trio was formed and this group has proved to be very popular. Extra songs have been added to their repertoire for the Jazz Club gig.
