Jazz Cult
What is Jazz Cult?
Jazz Cult is a quintet made up of the local all-stars, all of which are formidable front men, well know to the QLD Jazz and improvised music scene. A group with one highly esteemed vocalist is a blessing, we’ve got two. The evening will be an offering of Swing, Hard Bop, Originals and Contemporary favourites, all delivered by a cooking rhythm section and alternating crooning crooners. It’s the best that we present as individuals but all wrapped up in one not to be missed event.
Who are the members?
Jesse Kupper (Guitar), Kyle Watson (Keys and Vox), Stephen Henry (Tenor Sax and Vox), Mr. Mark Chalmers (Bass), Harry Schneider (Percussion).
Jesse Kupper (Guitar)
Jesse Kupper is a Queensland-based guitarist whose playing blends modern jazz language with a deep love of groove, feel, and melodic storytelling. A graduate of the Jazz Music Institute, he’s become a familiar presence across the Toowoomba and Brisbane scenes, performing in everything from intimate jazz settings to high-energy fusion projects. Known for his expressive phrasing and rhythmic sensitivity, Jesse brings a conversational, responsive approach to the bandstand, drawing on influences from contemporary jazz, funk, and beyond.
Kyle Watson (Keys & Vocals)
Kyle Watson is a dynamic keyboardist and vocalist who brings warmth, colour, and versatility to every performance. Equally at home laying down rich harmonic textures or stepping forward as a vocalist, Kyle thrives in collaborative settings where groove and interaction take centre stage. both reimagined repertoire and original music.
Stephen Henry (Tenor Sax & Vocals)
Stephen Henry is a saxophonist and vocalist whose playing is rooted in strong melodic instinct and a love of expressive improvisation. On tenor sax, he delivers fluid, engaging lines that move smoothly between lyrical phrasing and energetic solos, while his vocal contributions add another layer of character to the group’s sound. Stephen’s presence on stage reflects a deep connection to the music and the moment, shaped by his work across jazz and contemporary ensemble settings.
Mark Chalmers (Bass)

With a deep sense of time and a refined ear for harmony, Mark brings both reliability and musicality to every performance. Active across the Toowoomba and wider Queensland scene, he has played with a variety of projects spanning jazz, funk, and groove-based styles, always prioritising feel, connection, and support of the band as a whole.
