Join Girl Friday for a special one-night-only performance at Toowoomba Jazz Society this November!
Girl Friday, a popular part of the jazz, blues, swing and latin scene throughout South East Queensland, has gathered an army of loyal fans who have been clamouring to experience live their smooth standards, reimagined classics and cool originals since 2016. Since releasing their third album in 2024, they have been playing regularly to massive audiences in venues such as Eat Street Northshore in Brisbane, as well as entertaining huge festival crowds with their unique blend of energy and imagination.
Sultry songstress, Michele Gusman fronts the quartet with her dulcet tones, deep lyrics and evocative expression, her soulful delivery and stage persona honed over decades of performing in Australia and Europe. It’s the actress in her that delicately extracts the meaning behind every tune, experience gained during her time treading the boards on the UK musical theatre scene.
She is accompanied by multi-instrumentalist Calvin Hunter with his emotive saxophone solos adding sugar and spice to every tune, bassist Logan McIvor who expertly grooves everything from Brubeck to Bacharach and beyond, and jazz drummer Peter Coombs with his selection of sticks, brushes, percussion and infectious personality enhancing every beat.

PARKING: Access the car park off Gipps Street or there are parks in front of the bowling green in Ball Street and access via the gate.
ENTRANCE: Up the steps from the car park on the southern side of the building or from the bowling green side. Disabled access ramp on the Western side (Gipps Street) and through the bar.
